To check for the processor type and speed on Windows XP:

1. Close all applications
   
2. Click START then click CONTROL PANEL
   
3. Click on PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE


4. Click on SYSTEM


5. The processor type and speed are listed under the Computer heading on the General tab
