Follow the directions below the applicable Compuserve version to configure your settings.
CompuServe 3.0.x On the CompuServe toolbar, click on the ACCESS pull-down menu and choose PREFERENCES. The following settings should be used:
Connection: CIS Connection
Network: Internet
Winsock: Default Winsock
Phone #: (A phone number or character(period) is needed in this field)
Port: Telephony
Port Speed: Not a valid field option if 'telephony' selected
Dial Type: Not a valid field option if 'telephony' selected
Be sure to fill in your Member Name and Member ID in the fields provided
CompuServe 2.5.x On the CompuServe toolbar, click on the SPECIAL pull-down menu and choose SESSION SETTINGS. The following settings should be used:
Dial Type = Direct
Baud Rate = 9600 or higher
Network = Internet
Connect = Does not matter what is chosen; however, the box next to 'winsock' needs to be checked
