On Mar 3rd, Mediacom became aware of a new virus variant that is specifically targeting mchsi.com customers. This virus spreads by means of an "official" looking email, stating that the customer's account will be blocked in three days and that additional details can be found in an attached file. This email appears to come from accounts such as staff@mchsi.com, support@mchsi.com, or management@mchsi.com. The subject reads: E-mail account disabling warning.
No such email has been sent to our customers from any of our departments. Our security team is very well aware of this letter and the virus it's spreading. Our mail servers are filtering this virus based on header information, and should halt the spread of this virus very shortly now. For your own protection, please do not open the attachment and delete the email immediately. It is important to remember in general to not click on any links or download any files from any source you do not know and trust. Mediacom will never ask you to supply your email account password or account information via email.
